House of the Arts Brno, Brno, CZ

As an electronic musician, it can be challenging to navigate the music industry and get noticed by labels, promoters, and listeners at the same time. That’s why it’s crucial to understand the importance of healthy self-promotion and authentic self-branding. During the lecture, Erik Kolbenheyer from the Budapest-based EXILES label highlighted tips and tricks on how to get noticed. There was also an opportunity to ask for recommendations on what to do with your own social media profiles and how to improve them to increase your reach in music circles.

Erik Kolbenheyer is a media worker, electronic music curator, communications specialist and founder and A&R manager of EXILES, a Budapest-based experimental label founded in 2016, which focuses on artists from Central and Eastern Europe. https://exiles-electronics.bandcamp.com/ Many of the recordings he releases are made for charity (e.g. for NANE, Food Not Bombs, The City is For All). Besides working on his own label, he is also a jury member of the Telekom Electronic Beats talent contest and a curator at the House of Music Hungary.
